The New Climate

Kevin Trenberth is as senior scientist in the Climate Analysis Section at the National Center for Atmospheric Research.  He is prominent in climate variability and climate change research, as well as a leader in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change assessments.  He is also in the World Climate Research Programme.  He is an advocate for the need to develop a climate information system for the adaption to climate change.
In this clip (2012) Trenberth talks about how the southwestern parts of the United States have been unusally dry in regards to the amount of wildfires that are taking place.  He also talks about the fact that there is no snow left much earlier than usual, which is attributing to the heat wave that has been building throughout the year.
